MILANO411 magazine would like to extend condolences to family and colleagues of the Pope of Fashion, Andre Leon Talley. We’re very sad to report the legendary fashion icon and the ultimate fashionista and friend to fashion fans has passed and gone to the Fashion Week in the sky and in our collective hearts. Andre Leon Talley defined style and a push for Afro-American excellence. Not a stranger on the fashion scene in the three capitals (NYC, Paris, and Milano), he came from proud and humble roots in North Carolina under the loving mentorship of his grandmother.
He will be remembered for breaking barriers within the fashion industry, holding high-level executive positions at Vogue and W, and other fashion publications. He was a dreamer who was an intellectual and never stopped working. He leaves a proud legacy that should be studied. A narrative of never surrendering or apologizing for the use of language and style in creating worlds that inspire.
