One of our favorite pieces by the Italian Baroque painter, Aniello Falcone from Naples, Italy. He is best known for his famous battle scenes, their subjects taken straight from both biblical and secular histories. They were later nicknamed <\/span>L’Oracolo delle Battaglie<\/strong>. His fame soon <\/span>grew,<\/span>\u00a0and his talents reached past southern Italy to the northern cities of Florence and Milan (Milano). Growing so large, that his name was whispered in the courts of both Spain and France. <\/span><\/span>This royal attention and interests<\/span> later gained an international reputation among the art community of the day; his works soon attracted the attention of the famous Flemish dealer and collector, Gaspar Roomer. <\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\r\n

He worked in his Naples workshop until the Spanish incursion to put down Italian successionist movements from Spain. Once the Spanish reasserted control of the region, Aniello Falcone and his wife fled to Rome for sanctuary. There they met a French art dealer that persuaded the two to work in France. Aniello Falcone worked in both Arles and Paris, later returning to Naples where he died due to the plague.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\r\n
