Hanukkah, the Jewish \u201cFestival of Lights,\u201d begins tonight at sunset. Each candle on the menorah marks one of the eight days of the holiday, representing the miracle of the Hanukkah story and the ideal of universal light.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\r\n

What it’s not?<\/span> NOT a Jewish substitute for Christmas. Rather it’s a day with immense tradition of strength, love, and belief in community and a bright future. Born out of a proud history of love and courage, and family. What is the difference between Hanukkah and Chanukah?<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\r\n

The answer is that both are considered correct, though Hanukkah is the most widely used spelling, while\u00a0Chanukah is more traditional<\/b>. So, when the Hebrew word was transliterated in the 17th century, the \u1e25et<\/em> became ch (Chanukah)<\/em>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n
