Benin was a powerful nation-state in ancient West Africa.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">The\u00a0<b>Kingdom of Benin<\/b>, (also known as the\u00a0<b>Edo Kingdom<\/b>, or the\u00a0<b>Benin Empire<\/b>) was a a powerful kingdom in West Africa in what is now southern Nigeria. Nigeria is a powerful oil state nation in West Africa and one of the most populated too. Nigeria was also a part of the British Empire during colonial times. <\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">It is not to be confused with Benin , the modern-day nation-state. The Kingdom of Benin&#8217;s capital was the city of Edo, now known as <a style=\"color: #008000;\" title=\"Benin City\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Benin_City\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Benin City<\/a> in Edo state. Nigeria is divided into provinces and states. The Benin Kingdom was &#8220;one of the oldest and most highly developed states in the coastal hinterland of Africa.&#8221; They were advanced in metals and art. They had cities with plumbing and clean water. <\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">So this month and into the future, please dispel any racist thoughts of Africa.
