The Venetians are in a weird dilemma. The money is good, yet most average Venetians can&#8217;t be seen on the street due to the level of tourists. This is doubly sad, because the people make the place. Once they are compromised you end up with Pompeii style CITY of\u00a0ruins with no character. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">There are more tourists and fewer residents in the historic city of Venice.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">The city known as the \u201cQueen of the Adriatic\u201d has lost more than half its population in the past 50 years. The Venetians who remain are trying to find ways to reclaim their city. First the city was sinking. It still is, but there are plans to save if money can be marshalled and applied.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">It is sad, some of the older members of the MILANO411 office remember Venice of the 1980s and 1990s.
